LIFE SKILLS TRAINING/DAY SERVICES

Opportunities to develop and enhance one's social and daily living skills and to increase the range of leisure and community activities are also important elements of ProAct's offerings.  Life skills classes heighten community awareness through providing a variety of volunteer experiences and community outings.  The goal is to foster independence and to provide greater social and community participation.

Much of this training occurs through the Adult Day Services, Day Training & Habilitation and Life Opportunities programs and is personalized based on an individual's experiences, abilities and interests.

Adult Day Services (ADS): Life skills training is provided with everyday activities such as remembering people, tracking time or dates and handling money, to home care, including personal hygiene and communications.  Available at the Eagan location.

Day Training & Habilitation (DT&H):  Life skills training and day services are provided through classes, social activities and community outings to assist participants as they move toward greater community involvement.  There are approximately 90 different classes that are available to individuals in this program.  From practical matters such as housekeeping and cooking to the arts, there are classes that will meet the interests of all participants.  Available at the Eagan, Red Wing and Zumbrota locations.

Life Opportunities:  Life skills training and day services are provided through classes and social activities that are community-based in the Hudson/River Falls area.  Active and healthy living and community integration are the basis of the day services through daily visits to the local YMCA, active hobby projects at The Stables, a River Falls ranch, and nutrition and healthy cooking classes.  Other important topics covered through life skills instruction include, but are not limited to, money management, personal hygeine, community safety and positive, free-time hobbies.  Available in Hudson and River Falls, Wisconsin.
