Among the features that make ProAct a special place is the customized approach used by the professional staff, giving encouragement and supportive guidance to all who receive services. A plan of action is prepared for each participant, and for maximum benefit a team is assembled to put it together. The team usually consists of the individual served, family members, residential staff (if applicable), a county case manager and/or rehabilitation counselor, and ProAct staff. A friend or advocate may also take part, and at times, a health professional. The group assembles the plan of action to enable the individual to make informed choices and achieve his or her desired goals. These judgements are then meshed with a creative arsenal of options suggested by the experienced staff of ProAct.
Speech and other therapeutic services are tailored to the individual and provided by trained professionals. Experienced staff are available as needed to develop assistive devices and accomodations.
Special recognitions and seasonal celebrations can be particularly meaningful for individuals involved in ProAct programs. Client banquets are held each fall, one for people at the Eagan location and another for participants in Red Wing and Zumbrota. These gala events recognize individuals for the years they have taken part in ProAct programs and applaud everyone's commitment. Periodic cookouts are also staged and offer an opportunity for people to interact in a party environment. Holiday events and decorations accompany the observance of many national holidays. Particularly for people in the Adult Day Services program, seasonal celebrations can help enrich lives as they help trigger memories of childhood holidays and add positive group experiences.
