Valentine’s Day sale in Shakopee to benefit people with disabilities

Balloons, candy and uniquely decorated gifts
will help fund recreational activities at ProAct

Unique balloons and candy gifts sold by ProAct in Shakopee could be the best answer for what to get for one’s Valentine. Proceeds from the February 14 sale will help fund 2020 community exploration activities for participants with disabilities.

The sale runs from 8 a.m. to 1 pm at the Scott County Government Center, 200 4th Avenue West, in Room 102. For staff working in the center, pre-orders can be placed one day in advance. “Modest prices will help share the love with your Valentines of all ages,” said Ali Brown, manager of ProAct in Shakopee. The balloons are provided by Anagram and an anonymous donor provided a large helium tank to fill them. Last year the sale netted nearly $1,400 for animal and music therapy, theater experiences, boat cruises and other activities.

ProAct Shakopee works with nearly 100 individuals with disabilities and has served Scott County residents for nearly 52 years. It was previously known as New Options and operated by Scott County.
