Attendees at the 2018 ProAct Golf Classic took part in a two-hour meet and greet session over lunch with retired Minnesota Twins rightfielder Tony Oliva.
Batting .304 for his career, Oliva played in the Twins’ early days, from 1962 to 1976. Oliva signed photos and baseballs for ProAct’s live auction, and posed for photographs with many. One golfer recalled a story where his son caught Oliva’s fly-ball and they sought him out for an autograph.
A lively golf event followed the Twins celebrity with hole competitions, prizes, giveaways, and a raffle to bring in needed funds to provide services to people with disabilities at ProAct. The ProAct Golf Classic at Southview Country Club in West St. Paul is an annual event.
