Donations prompt long awaited outing to theater

Ready … set … action! ProAct in Shakopee was able to provide its first community outing in over a year by renting a movie theatre from Marcus Theatres! Proceeds from fundraisers made three separate theatre rentals possible for those participants who wanted to take in a movie while enjoying popcorn and a beverage.

Marcus Theatres opened early to accommodate the groups. Snack orders were sent by email making the payment easy and efficient. “Our participants loved getting back in the theatre and look forward to future outings,” said Day Support Services Manager Ali Brown. “You could feel the smiles under their masks ”
From Shakopee participants:

“I gave a two thumbs up for the movie and thank you for also the movie I had a good time” – Sam

“I gave the movie two thumbs up and would like to do that again, best outing I’ve had.”

As the warmer weather approaches, Shakopee hopes to schedule more community integration activities. With its Parks & Rec class, individuals are sure to get out, enjoy the Scott County Parks, and possibly visit ProAct’s adopted snow leopard at the Como Zoo.
