With the damper of COVID behind them, smiles were plentiful, and people were very glad to have a group celebration again for ProAct’s service awards in Red Wing, said Case Coordinator Gloria Solsaa.
Instead of meeting with family and friends at Treasure Island Resort and Casino as they did in past years, participants and staff gathered on site for longevity awards.
The Day Support Services program took the opportunity of a week break between the summer and fall schedules to have a fall fun week filled with arts and crafts, fun games, and outings, but the biggest highlight was the awards celebration, the case coordinator explained.
We enjoyed a lunch of sloppy-joes and cookies that were generously donated and then got the party started. Award certificates were presented along with ProAct T-shirts, sweatshirts, jackets, and Target gift cards.
Individuals were honored for service by five-year increments, with three recognized for 35 years of service and four for 30. Nancy Damman receiving the top-level 40-year Service Award.
Following the awards, the group continued the celebration with a dance. Music was provided by Pat and Sonya Garza and Don Gallis. Individuals had the opportunity to listen to the music, dance, play bingo, or return to work.
