October brought some cold weather to ProAct in Shakopee, but people were still able to get out for some rides to take in Halloween decorations in the community. Park visits were also in the works.

ProAct in Shakopee’s Food Shelf box was filling up, and the push was on to overfill it, said Senior Program Manager Ali Brown. Staff asked families and participants to bring items as ProAct waited with anticipation to bring them to a local charity.

ProAct in Shakopee celebrated “National Food Bank Week,” a group delivered the items and it was a great community service outing, said Brown.

Getting out, meeting for coffee

A few groups were able to go for some drives around the area to search out fun pumpkins and the last of the pretty leaves.

Staff took a group of coffee lovers to Caribou Coffee, as well. “And what a treat they had,” said Brown.

Classes at the site are running smoothly along with special pop-up activities. The cooking group was making potato soup for tasting and samples.
